Mindfulness is simple, but it certainly isn't easy (there's a reason why it is called practice!)  Sometimes we need a little motivation, competition, or nudge to accomplish difficult things.  So here is that nudge.  Take the Mindfulness Challenge.

The Mindfulness Challenge

In the blog post 5 Quick Ways to be Mindful in Your Everyday Busy Life, I outlined, as the title illustrates, simple ways to practice mindfulness everyday.  In the challenge, I propose you try an experiment ...

For the next 5 days, practice at least
1 of the following exercises at least 2 times a day.

  • Check in with your senses for a few minutes on the train or bus home to and from work
  • Take a body scan while sitting at your desk in the office
  • Take a couple minutes to notice your breathing before heading into the big meeting.
  • Go for a walk during lunch, and choose an object that calls to you.  Spend a few minutes just being with that object.  Observing what comes up in you.
  • Set aside the newspaper, phone, internet, computer, etc at eat one meal a day in mindfulness.
